STEM-IT: Immersive Technologies for STEM Education – Italian Multiplier Event at Liceo “Ettore Majorana”

On 22 September 2026, VITECO organised the Italian STEM-IT Multiplier Event at the Liceo “Ettore Majorana” in San Giovanni La Punta (Catania), within the Erasmus+ project STEM-IT – Immersive Technology in STEM Education.

The event took place in the Multipurpose Hall of the Centro Scolastico Polivalente and involved 37 participants, including secondary-school STEM teachers, students, developers and technology professionals. A particularly relevant presence was represented by teachers from the Scienze Applicate (Applied Sciences) programme, interested in innovative approaches for STEM education.

The event presented the main objectives and results of STEM-IT, focusing on the role of immersive technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and 3D environments in supporting more interactive, experimental and engaging STEM learning experiences.

Participants discovered the main STEM-IT educational resources, including ARTutor, the STEM-IT VR Museum – Climate Change Exhibition, EnergyLab VR, the SCP STEM-IT 3D Model Viewer and the Mission Mars immersive activity.

The practical demonstration showed how virtual environments, simulations and 3D models can help make complex scientific concepts more accessible and support learning activities based on exploration, experimentation and problem solving.

The event represented an opportunity for dialogue between schools, students and technology professionals, contributing to the dissemination of STEM-IT results and promoting innovative approaches for a more inclusive and digitally oriented STEM education.
