A new phase of STEM-IT has begun: the development of five innovative Virtual Reality applications dedicated to STEM education.
The applications are being developed by project partners Mathemagenesis, SCP – School of Certified Professionals and VITECO, bringing together technological and educational expertise to explore new ways of teaching and learning STEM subjects.
The objective goes beyond introducing new technology into the classroom. STEM-IT is investigating how immersive environments can help improve students’ engagement, understanding and accessibility when approaching scientific and technical topics.
Virtual Reality can provide learners with opportunities to interact with concepts that may otherwise remain abstract or difficult to visualise. This opens the possibility of creating learning experiences in which students do not simply receive information but actively explore educational environments and interact with digital content.
The development of these five applications therefore represents an important step in the project’s work towards rethinking traditional STEM learning methods through immersive technologies.
Once developed and tested, the resources will contribute to STEM-IT’s broader objective of providing teachers and students with practical digital tools that can support more engaging and innovative STEM education.
